JW Marriott Camelback Inn is a sprawling desert oasis in Scottsdale, Arizona, just a short 15 minute drive from the Phoenix airport. The resort recently under went a major renovation to update your hotel stay but still maintains it’s historic charm and southwestern architecture and décor.
Located on over 125 acres between Camelback and Mummy Mountain, Camelback Inn is a large resort with over 400 individual guest casitas and suites. Don’t be overwhelmed by navigating the large space! Golf carts are ready to take you to and from your room during your stay.
Located in the main building is guest check-in, the main guest lounge and bar, Rita’s Cantina, the resort shop and Starbucks. There is a large outdoor patio for dining and relaxing off the back of the main building which served as a guest gathering space in the mornings for breakfast and evenings for the live music. Great ambience!
Let’s not forget the spa! Located at the back of the property is the spa building and pool. A popular spot, make sure to book your desired spa appointment as far in advance as possible!
Also located at the back of the property is Mummy Mountain event space. Designed to feel like you are in the Wild West, the outdoor event space resembles an old western town. You will feel like you have just stepped back in time!
Each room at Camelback Inn is its own little bungalow. Villa pods are spread throughout the property with golf cart shuttle service offered for convenience.
Styled with warm desert hues and textures, the rooms are very spacious with a pullout couch, table for two, oversize dresser and large king bed or double queen beds. Individual Keurig located in the closet of each room.
The only place for improvement would be the bathrooms. Although each room has double sink vanity, overall the bathrooms were very cramped especially the shower and toilet area. The shower was narrow and small and the placement of the toilet made it awkward to maneuver around an open shower door. Check out our video tour of the rooms here.
Centered in the middle of the resort is Jackrabbit Pool. The pool deck is centered around the large main pool with a smaller adults only pool deck located on a lower deck. On the weekends, the pool can get crowded with chairs hard to find. Arrive early to claim your spot!
If lounging poolside is your activity for the day, you will not have to leave your chair to eat or the pool for a drink. There will be a waiter ready to take your order!
*The tile of the pool deck gets VERY hot. Make sure to wear shoes.
The Camelback Inn has several restaurants on site: Rita Cantina and Bar, Lincoln Steakhouse, Jackrabbit Pool Bar and Starbucks. Boosting delicious Mexican food and flare, Rita’s is a great option for lunch. Highly recommend the guacamole and salsa trio!
We did not eat at Lincoln Steakhouse but did pop in for a drink. Loved the vibe and the restaurant received excellent reviews on Tripadvisor. Several lunches were ordered pool side at the Jackrabbit Pool Bar. The menu was limited but the convenience of not having to leave your pool chair made up the difference!
Starbucks was a daily morning stop for us! A great place of the property to grab a quick coffee and breakfast.
The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming! If there was ever anything we needed, the front desk was quick to respond. And each staff member wore a mask which were few and far between everywhere else in Arizona. Loved that the resort is still taking Covid safety measures!
