The Florida Keys are the perfect spot for a family vacation!  Key Largo, Islamorada, Key West, Marathon- there are a number of different options to base your stay.   Check out our list of the top activities in the Florida Keys for families.

Opt to stay at one of the many family friendly resorts in the Florida Keys.  Staying at a resort builds in fun family activities with on sight activities.

We would highly recommend Baker’s Cay Resort!  Offered daily at Baker’s Cay, fishing off the boat pier, a pineapple scavenger hunt and water activities like kayaking and paddle boarding.  Although Baker’s Cay did not have a kid’s club, there were daily kid activities like art & crafts on Monday, lawn games on Tuesday and a kid’s foam party on Wednesday.

Other great resort options in the Florida Keys are Hawks Cay Resort in Duck Key, Cheeca Lodge in Islamorada and Isla Bella Beach Resort in Marathon.

Stop by Robbie’s Marina in Islamorada to feed to local school of tarpon.  These large fish will jump out of the water to grab the bait fish right out of your hand!  After your exciting fish experience, kick back at the Thirsty Tarpon Bar for a drink or shop in the local store for a souvenir.

Whether deep sea or right off a pier, fishing is a top activity in the Florida Keys.  Baker’s Cay Resort offers poles and bait to all guests every morning to fish right off the boat dock. Off shore fishing charters can also be arranged for you with pick up right on property.  If you are lucky enough to make a good catch, the resort will prepare your fresh catch for dinner!

Located at the end of the chain of islands making up the Florida Keys is the famous Key West.  An hour and a half from Islamorada, it’s an easy drive down highway US-1.  Take in the sights at the southern most point in Mallory Square, the bar scene on Duval Street and the home of author Ernest Hemingway.

The calm waters of the Keys are the perfect place for water activities like paddle boarding and kayaking.  Baker’s Cay Resort offered these items to all their guests on Coconut Beach. We spotted a sting ray swimming by while out on the kayaks!  Get out on the water and explore!

A local favorite, Key Lime Pie is a dessert staple in the Florida Keys.  Every restaurant will offer their own version on the dessert menu.  Sample ALL the options to find your favorite!

Lorelei’s Restaurant and Cabana is a great dinner option for families.  Located right on the water, the restaurant offers daily live music with a perfect view of the sunset!. Highly recommend trying the fresh catch!  One of the best Mahi Mahi sandwiches we have ever had!
